Mebarid Syrup: Uses, Ingredients, Dose, Side Effects

Syrup is a proprietary Ayurvedic medicine manufactured by S.G. Phyto Pharma Pvt. Ltd. It is a sure shot solution for infantile diarrhea and dysentery.

Benefits of Mebarid Syrup

Checks intestinal hyper-peristalsis, resolves intestinal colic and spasms,relieves abdominal pain. Reduce microbial assault by destroying them. Checks electrolyte losses and toxicity. Restores normal growth of intestinal flora. Improves the resistance of GI tract.

Indication

Loose motion of specific & non-specific origin.
Amoebic & bacillary dysentery
Gastro-enteritis
Entero-colitis
Sprue
Chronic intestinal problem

Ingredients

Each 10 ml of syrup contains decoction obtained from –
Ajamoda – Ptychotis ajowan – 100 mg – Overcomes abdominal colic, dyspepsia & indigestion.
Bilwa- Bael – Aegle marmelos – 100 mg – possesses anti-microbial action. Lodhra – Symplocos racemosa – 100 mg – Relieves gas & reduces hyper-motility.
Dadima – Pomegranate – Punica granatum – 100 mg
Mishreya – Fennel seed – Foeniculum vulgare – 100 mg – It improves digestion power.
Daruharidra – Indian berbery – Berberis aristata – 100 mg – It has anti-diarrhea, anti-microbial and anti-spasmodic activities.
Jatiphala – Nutmeg – Myristica fragrans – 50 mg – Useful in relieving diarrhoea associated with bloating and abdominal pain.
Shunti – Ginger – Zingiber officinale – 50 mg – Improves intestinal resistance. Ativisha – Indian atees – Aconitum heterophyllum – 50 mg – Overcomes fever & malaise.
Kutaja – Holarrhena antidysenterica – 50 mg – It is a very famous herb used in treating diarrhoea, irritable bowel syndrome etc. Sugar – q.s.

Contra-indication

Pregnancy
Hyper-sensitivity to any ingredients

Dosage

Infants – ½ tsp 2 – 3 times a day.
Children – 1 tsp 2 – 3 times a day. Or as directed by the physician.

How long to use?
This product can be used for a period of 2 – 3 months of time, based on your doctor’s advice. 

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

Side effects of Mebarid Syrup

There are no known side effects with this medicine. However, it is best to use this medicine under medical supervision. Store in a cool dry place, away from sunlight. Keep out of reach and sight of children.       Seek your doctor’s advice for its usage during pregnancy. This product can be safely used during lactation period and in children for a limited period of few weeks time.
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are diabetic. In diabetic patients, only if the blood sugar is under good control, then this medicine can be given.
