Paedritone Drops Benefits, How To use, Ingredients, Side Effects

Paedritone Drops is a proprietary Ayurvedic medicine manufactured by Charak Pharma. It is mainly used to treat abdominal colic pain, bloating, indigestion and other digestive problems.

Uses and dose

Paedritone Drops Indications:
Spasmodic pain in the bowels, flatulence, indigestion, diarrhea during dentition,
Promotes growth in children

Dosage:
Infants up to 1 month: 8 to 10 drops three to four times a day.
1 month to 6 months: 15 to 20 drops three to four times a day.
6 months to 1 year: ½ to 1 teaspoonful three to four times a day.

Duration

How long to take?
This medicine can be taken for a period of 6 – 8 weeks as per doctors advice. After that time, usually the dose is gradually reduced and the medicine is stopped in next 6 weeks of time.

Each 5 ml of Paedritone drops contains:
Suva – Anethum graveolens – 150 mg – Widely used herb to treat digestive problems, improves digestive strength, relieves abdominal colic.
Brahmi – Bacopa monniera – 24 mg
Shankhapuspi – Convolvulus pluricaulis – 24 mg
Ajwayan – Trachyspermum ammi – 15 mg – Extensively in digestive diseases.
Vacha – Acorus calamus -12 mg – Improves digestive strength, relieves ama dosha, bloating, constipation, abdominal colic pain.
Jeeraka Krishna – Cuminum cyminum – 6 mg
Yasthimadhu – Glycyrrhiza glabra Linn – 6 mg
Ativisha – Aconitum heterophyllum Wall. Cat – 3 mg
Kumara – Ipomoea batatas – 3 mg
Shatavari – Asparagus racemosus – 3 mg
Daruharidra – Berberis aristata Dc – 3 mg
Haridra – Turmeric – Curcuma longa Linn – 3 mg
Kachur – Curcuma zedoaria – 3 mg
Nagarmotha – Cyperus scariosus – 3 mg
Elachi – Elettaria cardamomum – 3 mg
Amalaki – Phyllanthus emblica – 3 mg
Vidanga – Embelia ribes – 3 mg
Shatapushpa – Anethum sowa – 3 mg

Karkatshringi – Pistacia chinensis – 3 mg – Its gall is used extensively in digestive and respiratory conditions

Haritaki – Terminalia chebula – 3 mg
Guduchi – Tinospora cordifolia – 3 mg
Vidlavan –  3 mg – It improves digestion, taste, used in abdominal colic
Shunthi – Zinziber officinale – 3 mg

Side effects

Paedritone Drops Side effects:
There are no recorded side effects with this medicine.
Consult your doctor for its usage during pregnancy.
Store in a cool dry place, away from sunlight.
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are diabetic. In diabetic patients, only if the blood sugar is under good control, then this medicine can be given. 

How long does it take to start showing results?
Depends on the dosage and other products suggested with this. Usually 1 – 2 weeks time.

Can this product be taken along with Allopathic medicines (English medicines)?
It may react with some medicines. Consult your doctor for the right advice. When English and Ayurvedic medicines are advised together, it is best to take English medicine first, give a gap of half an hour and then take Ayurvedic medicines.

It is sold in plastic bottles. Is it fine?
If the quality of the bottle material is very good, it should not be problem, if stored for a short period of time.

Can this be taken without consulting a doctor?
No.

Can one take non vegetarian food while taking this medicine?
Yes, unless your practitioner has asked to avoid it.

Is there any Pathya (diet rules to be followed while taking this product?
No product specific diet is mentioned. If the practitioner has advised diet control based on disease, one has to follow that.

Can this be taken while taking multivitamin tablets?
Yes, generally. Your consulting doctor will be good judge on this topic.
