Dangine Tablet: Uses, Ingredients, Dose, Side Effects

Dangine Tablet is a proprietary Ayurvedic medicine manufactured by J & J DeChane Laboratories Pvt. Ltd. It is an anti-spasmodic tablet for control of cough. 

Ingredients

Ingredients of Dangine Tablet:
Each uncoated tablet contains –
Dudhi -Euphorbia pilulifera – 49 mg – Arka
Nala -Lobelia nicotianaefolia – 30 mg
Vasaka -Adathoda vasica – 30 mg
Sphatika -Potash alum – 14 mg
Somalatha -Ephendra gerardiana – 36 mg
Yastimadhu -Glycyrrhiza glabra – 7 mg – Licorice
Ashwagandha -Withania somnifera – 3 mg – Indian Ginseng
Sarpagandha -Rauwolfia serpentina – 2 mg
Balatagara -Valeriana wallichii – 2 mg

Haridra -Curcuma longa – 0.31 mg – Turmeric
Shunti -Zingiber officinale – 0.08 mg – Ginger
Ajamoda -Carum roxburghianum –  0.11 mg – Ajwain
Amalaki -Embelica officinalis – 0.04 mg – Indian gooseberry
Pippali -Piper longum – 0.04 mg – long pepper
Jeeraka -Cuminum cyminum – 0.04 mg – cumin seeds
Mishreya -Foeniculum vulgare – 0.24 mg – Fennel seeds

Action

Pharmacology of Dangine Tablet:
Sphatika is an astringent, anti-spasmodic, anti-septic and has a soothing effect on the respiratory tract.
Vasaka is a very popular expectorant used in acute and chronic bronchitis. It also liquefies the sputum.
Nala is an anti-spasmodic, expectorant mainly used to reduce bronchospasm during an attack.
Dudhi has depression action on the cough centre, but relaxes bronchi and is particularly effective in children’s cough.
Somalatha controls the asthmatic paroxysms.
Yasimadhu is used as a mild expectorant and as demulcent in inflammatory affections and irritable conditions of the bronchial tubes.
Ashwagandha is a tonic, astringent and a nervine sedative.
Sarpagandha and Balatagara are used as mild sedatives.

Indication

Indication of Dangine Tablet:
Harassing spasmodic cough specially whooping cough

Dose and duration of use

Dosage of Dangine Tablet:
Adults – 1-2 tablets thrice a day.
Children – ¼-1/2 tablet every 4 hours, or as directed by Ayurvedic doctor.
For smaller children the tablet is crushed and given with honey.
In severe cases, the dose is repeated every 2 hours.
To raise general resistance and to bring quick recovery, it is advisable to give Albo-Sang with milk twice a day.

How long to use?
This product can be used for a period of 2 – 3 months of time, based on your doctor’s advice.

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine or as directed by the physician.

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

Side effects and package

Side effects f Dangine Tablet:
There are no known side effects with this medicine.
However, it is best to use this medicine under medical supervision.
Store in a cool dry place, away from sunlight.
Keep out of reach and sight of children.
Seek your doctor’s advice for its usage during pregnancy.
This product can be safely used during lactation period and in children for a limited period of few weeks time.
