Pathyadi Churnam Uses, Dose, Ingredients, Side Effects

Pathyadi churnam is an Ayurvedic herbal powder, useful in the treatment of anemia, constipation, skin diseases etc. It is used both for external application and oral use. 

Uses, effect on dosha

Uses of Pathyadi Churnam:
Excellent in anasarca (whole body swelling ), anemia and ascites.
Indicated in psoriasis, dermatitis, eczema, leukoderma etc.
Acts as a laxative.

Effect on Tridosha- Calms vata and kapha.

Ingredients

Ingredients of Pathyadi Churnam:
Pathya (Terminalia chebula)
Karanja (Pongamia glabra)
Siddhartha – Mustard seeds (Brassica juncea)
Nisha – turmeric (Curcuma longa)
Avalguja (Psoralia corylifolia)
Saindhava lavana (Rock salt)
Vidanga – False black pepper – Embelia ribes
Gomutra (Cow’s urine)

Direction for use

Direction for use of Pathyadi Churnam:
Internally- 5-10 gm in hot water, cow’s urine or butter milk.
Made into paste with cow’s urine and applied over the affected area.

Shelf life, side effects

Shelf life: 2 years from the date of manufacture. Once opened, it should be used within 2-4 months.

Side effects:
It is best to avoid during pregnancy.
It can be administered during lactation and in children in low doses.
It is not indicated in people suffering from diarrhea.
Store in a cool dry place. Keep out of reach and sight of children.
