Jathikkai Legiyam is a classical Siddha medicine in paste/jam form manufactured by SKM Siddha & Ayurveda Company India Ltd., Erode- Tamil Nadu. It is an astringent used in bleeding disorders of intestine.

Ingredients of Jathikkai Legiyam:
Masikkai – Mayaphala – Quercus infectoria – 10 % – It is an Ayurvedic herb used for the treatment of wounds, control bleeding, piles, oral diseases, diarrhea, dysmenorrhea.
Sathikkai – Jathiphala – Nutmeg – Myristica fragrans – 10 %
Kasakasa – Ahiphena – Opium – Papaver somniferum – 10 % – It has analgesic activity.
Kadukkaipoo – Haritaki – Chebulic myrobalan – Terminalia chebula – 10 % – It helps to ease bowel movement, one of the complications in hemorrhoids. It helps in reducing the pile mass and reducing / stopping the bleeding.
Puliyankottaithol – Chincha – Tamarind – Tamarindus indica – 10 %
Panan karkandu – Taala – Borassus flabellifer – 50 % – It has anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory activities.
Pasu paal – Go dugdha – Cows milk – Bos indicus – q.s.
Indication
Indication of Jathikkai Legiyam:
- Rathapethi [bleeding per rectum, bloody stools]
- Seethapethi [amoebic dysentery]
- Rathamoolam [bleeding piles]
- Moolakirani.
Dose
Dosage & Adjuvants of Jathikkai Legiyam:
5 – 12 g with milk after food twice daily.
Or as directed by the physician.
With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine or as directed by the physician.
Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.
With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.
