Lumbagest capsule is an proprietary Ayurvedic medicine manufactured by Kerala Ayurveda Limited. It is mainly used to treat lumbar spondylitis and Sciatica.

Salient features of Lumbagest capsule

This capsule is formulated using an ancient Ayurvedic technique called Avarthana. It is a method of processing the herbal oil repeatedly with herbs. This method improves the concentration of the phyto-chemicals in the product. This helps in en-capsuling the large amount of medicinal herbs in smallest dose possible.
It possesses the goodness of the ancient Ayurveda formulationa- Simhasyadi Kwath and Nirgundi – Eranda Prayoga from Bhaishajyaratnavali which are mainly used to strengthen the low back region and treat low back pain and disc herniation.

Ingredients

Castor oil (Ricinus communis) – 250 mg – Act as purgative, used in neurological disorders, relieves pain etc.
Sesame oil (Sesamum indicum) – 250 mg 
Nirgundi (Vitex negundo) Leaf juice – 500 mg

Decoction of –  

       – Trivrit (Operculina  turpethum) – root – 100 mg
       – Vasa (Adathoda vasica) – root – 0.8 mg 
       – Danti (Baliospermum montanum) – root – 0.8 mg – Used in vata disorders, relieves inflammation, swelling, burning sensation etc
       – Satahua (Anethum sowa) – fruit – 0.8 mg 
       – Aragvadha (Cassia fistula) – stem bark – 0.8 mg – It is the best mild purgative Ayurvedic herb used to detoxify digestive tract and relieves ama, bloating, constipation, fever, abdominal pain etc
       – Sahachara (Strobilanthes ciliates) – plant – 0.8 mg 
       – Devadaru (Cedrus deodara) – Heartwood – 0.8 mg 

Dosage

1 – 2 capsules daily or as directed by physician.

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

However, it is best to use this medicine under medical supervision.
