Memoir Syrup: Uses, Ingredients, Dose, Side Effects

Memoir Syrup is a proprietary Ayurvedic medicine manufactured by Megha Health Care Private Limited. It is a brain tonic used in the treatment of nervine and mental disorders.

Indication of Memoir Syrup

Cognitive dysfunctions
General mental debility
Fatigue
Nocturnal enuresis
Age related memory impairment
Insomnia
Behavioral & psychiatric problems
As a co-prescription with anti-convulsive therapy
As an adjuvant therapy

Dosage

Up to 1 year – 1/4th tsp twice a day.
1-3 years – ½ – 1 tsp twice a day.
3 years & above ½ – 1 tsp twice or thrice a day.
Or as directed by the physician.

How long to use?
This product can be used for a period of 2 – 3 months of time, based on your doctor’s advice. 

With Other Medicines

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

Diet to follow

Have more of Flax seeds, ghee, coconut oil, sesame oil, sesame seeds, walnut, sardines, salmon, soyabean, shrimp, brussel sprout, cauliflower, winter squash, fish oil, egg oil, krill oil, chia seeds, camelia
There are no diet restrictions. Please avoid all types of junk foods and Sodas. Please prefer homemade food wherever possible.

Ingredients

Each 5 ml of syrup contains aqueous extracts of –
Shankhapushpi – Convolvulus pluricaulis –  500 mg – It improves memory, intelligence and useful in psychiatric diseases.
Brahmi – Bacopa monnieri – 500 mg – There is no herb that can improve intelligence naturally, better than this.
Malkagani – Jyotishmati – Staff tree – Celastrus paniculatus – 200 mg
Vacha – Sweet flag – Acorus calamus – 100 mg – It improves speech and intelligence.
Jatamamsi – Spikenard – Nardostachys jatamansi – 200 mg – It improves brain functions.
Bringaraja – False daisy – Eclipta alba – 200 mg
Yastimadhu – Licorice – Glycyrrhiza glabra – 100 mg – It has anti-depressant compounds and helps in warding off depression.
Haritaki – Chebulic myrobalan – Terminalia chebula – 50 mg – It improves intelligence.
Amalaki – Gooseberry – Embelica officinalis – 25 mg
Guduchi – Giloy – Tinospora cordifolia – 30 mg – It is a well known immuno-modulator herb.
Jatiphala – Nutmeg – Myristica fragrans – 2 mg

Side effects of Memoir Syrup

There are no known side effects with this medicine. However, it is best to use this medicine under medical supervision. Store in a cool dry place, away from sunlight. Keep out of reach and sight of children.
Seek your doctor’s advice for its usage during pregnancy. This product can be safely used during lactation period and in children for a limited period of few weeks time.
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are diabetic. In diabetic patients, only if the blood sugar is under good control, then this medicine can be given.

Habit forming

Is this medicine habit forming? Does it create dependence? Can we stop it after a few months of usage?
This medicine is not habit forming. After using for the prescribed period, your doctor would gradually decrease the dose and eventually stop it. Follow your doctor’s instructions for gradual decrease of dose and stopping. Usually it does not cause any ill effects.
