Madhumehahara Kwatha: Uses, Ingredients, Dose, Side Effects

Kwatha is a proprietary Ayurvedic medicine manufactured by Pentacare Pharmaceuticals. It is used in the treatment of Diabetes and its complications.

Indication of Madhumehahara Kwatha

Diabetes mellitus
Diabetic carbuncles

Dosage

5 – 15 ml mixed with equal amount of water twice or thrice a day, before food. Or as directed by the physician.

How long to use?
This product can be used for a period of 2 – 3 months of time, based on your doctor’s advice. 

With Other Medicines

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

Each 200 ml contains –
Triphala – 15 mg
Amla – Gooseberry – Embelica officinalis – Amla was studied to demonstrate hypoglycemic activity in an animal experimental research study.
Haritaki – Chebulic myrobalan – Terminalia chebula – Useful in diabetes and urinary tract disorders.
Vibitaki – Baheda – Terminalia bellerica
Trikatu – 15 mg
Shunti – Ginger – Zingiber officinale – It improves digestion power.
Maricha – Black pepper – Piper nigrum
Pippali – Long pepper – Piper longum
Haridra – Turmeric – Curcuma longa – 15 mg – It is the drug of choice in effectively tackling Diabetes Mellitus and Urinary tract disorders. Daruharidra – Berberis aristata – 15 mg – It has hypo-glycemic activity. Lodhra – Symplocos racemosa – 15 mg
Madhunashini – Gymnema sylvestre – 15 mg – It is used totally all over India for controlling blood sugar. 
Methika – Fenugreek – Trigonella foenum greacum – 15 mg – Useful in Urinary tract disorders, type 2 diabetes mellitus.
Guduchi – Giloy – Tinospora cordifolia – 5 mg – useful in diabetes and urinary tract disorders.
Karanja – Indian beech – Pongamia pinnata – 5 mg
Usheera – Vetiveria zizanioides – 5 mg
Gokshura – Tribulus terrestris – 5 mg – It has diuretic activity.
Patola – Pointed gourd – Trichosanthes dioica – 5 mg
Nimba – Neem – Azadirachta indica – 5 mg – Useful in diabetes.
Punarnava – Spreading hogweed – Boerhavia diffusa – 5 mg – It is one of the very important anti inflammatory medicinal herbs.
Saptarangi – Salacia reticulata – 5 mg – It has anti-obesity and anti-diabetic activities.
Vidanga – False black pepper – Embelia ribes – 5 mg
Musta – Nutgrass – Cyperus rotundus – 6 mg
Manjista – Indian madder – Rubia cordifolia – 3 mg – It is a famous herb for blood detoxifying. 
Karavellaka – Bittergourd – Momordica charantia – 3 mg – It has anti-diabetic and hepato-protective activities.
Bhunimba – Andrographis paniculata – 3 mg
Asana – Indian kino tree – Pterocarpus marsupeum – 10 mg – It has anti-diabetic action.
Patra – Cinnamomum tamala – 10 mg
Jambu – Jamun – Syzygium cumini – 10 mg – It is beneficial in controlling blood sugar levels in diabetics. 

Side effects of Madhumehahara Kwatha

There are no known side effects with this medicine. However, it is best to use this medicine under medical supervision. Store in a cool dry place, away from sunlight. Keep out of reach and sight of children.        Seek your doctor’s advice for its usage during pregnancy. This product can be safely used during lactation period and in children for a limited period of few weeks time.
