Lobak Ghrita: Uses, Ingredients, Dose, Side Effects

Ghrita is a proprietary Ayurvedic medicine manufactured by Pentacare Pharmaceuticals. It is used in the treatment of musculo-skeletal disorders.

Indication of Lobak Ghrita

Low back pain
Lumbago
Spondylitis
Bursitis

It is useful to promote strength of bones and joints.
It acts as an excellent anti inflammatory and analgesic medicine.
It is used for the treatment of ankle pain, ankle twitch, slipped disc, sprain, back spasm, backache, back injury, stiffness of muscles, Coccyx pain

Partially useful in (other medications might be required)
Avascular necrosis
Sensory-neural hearing loss
Hypothyroidism
Ankylosing spondylitis
Pain related to SLE

Diet

Avoid deep fried foods, heavy-to-digest non veg foods, fast foods and aerated drinks, smoking and excess alcohol. These can irritate stomach and intestinal lining. These also may increase Tridosha.

Dosage

5 – 10 ml 2 – 3 times a day with warm milk or warm water, before food. Or as directed by the physician

How long to use?
This product can be used for a period of 2 – 3 months of time, based on your doctor’s advice. 

With Other Medicines

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

Ingredients

Each 100 ml ghee is processed 1 or 3 times contains –
Nirgundi twak churna – Vitex negundo bark powder – 20 g – It is a very good muscle relaxant, pain relieving herb.
Rasna – Pluchea lanceolata – 5 g – It has anti-inflammatory action.
Amruta – Giloy – Tinospora cordifolia – 5 g – It is a immuno-modulatory herb.
Gokshura – Tribulus terrestris – 5 g – It has anti-inflammatory activity. Eranda – Castor – Ricinus communis – 5 g – Of all the substances capable of aphrodisiac and Vata balancing effects, castor root is the best.
Punarnava – Boerhavia diffusa – 5 g
Aragwadha – Cassia fistula – 2 g
Sahachara – Strobilanthes heynianus – 2 g
Vasa – Malabar nut – Adhatoda vasica – 2 g
Musta – Nut grass – Cyperus rotundus – 2 g
Ativisha – Aconitum heterophyllum – 2 g – It relieves swelling.
Shati – Curcuma zedoaria – 2 g
Ashwagandha – Indian ginseng – Withania somnifera – 2 g – It improves strength and immunity.
Shatavari – Buttermilk root – Asparagus racemosus – 2 g
Kusta – Saussurea lappa – 2 g – Useful in gout treatment.
Devadaru – Himalayan cedar – Cedrus deodara – 3 g – It has analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties.
Trikatu – 3 g
Shunti – Ginger – Zingiber officinale – It has analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties.
Pippali – Long pepper – Piper longum
Maricha – Black pepper – Piper nigrum
Bala – Country mallow – Sida cordifolia – 3 g
Ksheera – Milk – 100 ml

Side effects of Lobak Ghrita

There are no known side effects with this medicine. However, it is best to use this medicine under medical supervision. Store in a cool dry place, away from sunlight. Keep out of reach and sight of children.        Seek your doctor’s advice for its usage during pregnancy. This product can be safely used during lactation period and in children for a limited period of few weeks time.
