Rhumaja Oil Benefits, How To use, Ingredients, Side Effects

Rhumaja Oil is a proprietary Ayurvedic medicine manufactured by Lama Pharmaceuticals. It is mainly used in treatment of agonising joint and muscle pain. 

Rhumaja Oil Uses

Effective in agonising joint and muscle pain
Relieve pain caused by Rheumatism, Arthritis, Gout, Sciatica, Lumbago or Spondylosis.
Also effective in sprain, injuries, muscle trauma and osteoporosis
Post viral fever, when the patient complains of body, muscle and joint pains
Bursitis,  
Bursitis trochanterica,
Shoulder dislocation pain

Application on feet

Precaution if you apply this oil over feet:
If you apply this oil on feet, make sure to wash off thoroughly with water or wipe off with cloth. The oil can make you slippery while walking.
After applying, make sure there are no oil spills on the floor. This can make the floor slippery.

Dosage

2-10 drops.

How to use?
Apply gently on the affected area.

How long to apply?
This medicine can be applied for a period of 6 – 8 weeks as per doctors advice. After that time, usually the dose is gradually reduced and the medicine is stopped in next 6 weeks of time.

Ingredients

Each 5 ml contains:
Erandmool – Ricinus communis – 0.12 grams – Useful to balance Vata dosha, they are used in treating paralysis, sciatica, neuropathies, neurological pains etc.
Dhatura panchang – Dhatura metel – 0.13 grams – Used to relieve joint pain, stiffness etc
Ashwagandha – Withania somniferra – 0.13 grams – Best Ayurvedic herb used to relieve general debility, gives strength to bones, improve immunity
Shatawari – Asparagus racemosa – 0.13 grams
Ama Ada – Curcuma aromatic – 0.13 grams – Used to treat joint pain, skin diseases etc
Kuchala – Strychnos nuxvomica – 0.13 grams
Mithabis – Vatsnav aconitum ferox – 0.1 grams – Used in rheumatoid arthritis, low back ache, hip joint pain, sciatica, improves strength and immunity etc
Prasarini – Paederia foetida – 0.13 grams
Karpoor – Cinnamomum camphora – 0.25 mg
Gandhapuri tel – 1.25 ml
Tarpeen tel – 0.50 ml
Til tail – 5 ml

There are no recorded side effects with this medicine.
This product is meant only for external application.
Consult your doctor for its usage during pregnancy.
Store in a cool dry place, away from sunlight.
Avoid accidental oral intake. Keep out of reach and sight of children.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to start showing results?
Depends on the dosage and other products suggested with this. Usually 1 – 2 weeks time.

Can this product be applied along with Allopathic medicines (English medicines)?
It may react with some medicines. Consult your doctor for the right advice. When English and Ayurvedic medicines are advised together, it is best to take English medicine first, give a gap of half an hour and then take Ayurvedic medicines.  

It is sold in plastic bottles. Is it fine? 
If the quality of the bottle material is very good, it should not be problem, if stored for a short period of time.

Can this be taken without consulting a doctor?
No. In many cases, this product alone might not work. More often this is given in combination with a few Ayurvedic medicines. Your Ayurveda practitioner will be the best judge to decide on those things.

Can one take non vegetarian food while applying this medicine?
Yes, unless your practitioner has asked to avoid it.

Is there any Pathya (diet rules to be followed while applying this product?
No product specific diet is mentioned. If the practitioner has advised diet control based on disease, one has to follow that.
Avoid excess spicy foods, junk foods, aerated drinks, frozen and canned foods

During pregnancy, lactation

If you were using this oil before pregnancy without any allergic reaction, you can continue using this oil even during pregnancy.
If you have not used this product before and wish to use it during pregnancy, better to consult a doctor because it can cause skin allergy in some rare cases.
It is generally considered as safe to use during lactation, however consult your doctor for the right advice.

Can this product be applied after steam therapy?
No. Oil is best applied before steam therapy. This is as per basic Ayurvedic principles.
