Glustat Powder: Uses, Ingredients, Dose, Side Effects

Glustat Powder is a proprietary Ayurvedic medicine manufactured by Amrita Drugs. It is an anti-diabetic medicine, useful to manage diabetes and its complications. It contains effective anti diabetic Ayurvedic herbs such as bael, amla, turmeric, fenugreek, gymnema etc.

Indications and dose

Indication of Glustat Powder:
Non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus -NIDDM

Dosage & Adjuvant of Glustat Powder:
5-10 g twice a day before meals with warm water/ Gokshura extract/ Punarnavastaka kwatha / Phalatrikadi kwatha, or as directed by the physician. 

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine or as directed by the physician.

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

How long to use?
This product can be used for a period of 2 – 3 months of time, based on your doctor’s advice.

Karavellaka  – Momordica charantia – 5parts
Jambubeeja  – Syzygium cumini – 5 parts
Meshashringi  – Gymnema sylvestre – 5 parts – Madhunashini – Gudmar, is a herb popularly known for its anti- diabetic action and is mentioned in Ayurvedic treatment of diabetes, renal calculi, cough, snake poison and jaundice.
Vidanga – Embelica ribes – 3 parts
Gokshura  – Tribulus terrestris – 3 pats
Amalaki – Embelica officinalis – 2 parts
Haritaki – Terminalia chebula – 1 part

Musta – Cyperus rotundus – 1 part
Methika –Trignella foenum graecum – 1 part
Daruharidra – Berberis aristata – 1 part
Haridra – Curcuma longa – 1 part
Shunti – Zingiber officinale – 1 part – ginger
Bilvapatra – Aegle marmelos – 1 part – Bael leaves

Side effects

Side effects of Glustat Powder:
There are no known side effects with this medicine.
Over dosage may cause lowered blood sugar levels. Take care especially when using this medicine along with allopathic medicines for diabetes management.
However, it is best to use this medicine under medical supervision.
Store in a cool dry place, away from sunlight.
Keep out of reach and sight of children.
Seek your doctor’s advice for its usage during pregnancy.
This product can be safely used during lactation period and in children for a limited period of few weeks time.
