Galakol Granules: Uses, Ingredients, Dose, Side Effects

Galakol Granule is a proprietary Ayurvedic medicine manufactured by Charak Pharmaceuticals. It initiates and increases lactation.
Breastfeeding offers beneficial effects for both baby and the mother. Breastmilk provides the right balance of nutrients to help the infant grow strong and healthy. 

Mother’s milk is essential to create an emotional bond between mother and baby. Galakol is safe medicine, ideally containing the herbal nutritive tonics for the mother and the baby. Galakol is the right choice not only to increase the lactation but also facilitates fast recovery post-delivery. Galakol improves general health status and well-being.

Indications

Dosage

Dosage of Galakol Granules:
15-30 g twice a day with milk.

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine or as directed by the physician.

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

How long to use?
This product can be used for a period of 2 – 3 months of time, based on your doctor’s advice.

Ingredients of Galakol Granules:
Each 100 g contains extracts of –
Shatavari – Asperagus racemosus – 150 mg
Lodhra – Symplocos racemosa – 50 mg – Lodhra is a very important Ayurvedic herb. It is mainly used in bleeding disorders, diarrhoea and eye disorders. Its reference in Ayurveda are found since the time of Sushruta.
Krishna jeeraka – Nigella sativa – 25 mg – Black cumin is an ancient Indian spice. It is widely used in after delivery care of the mother. It is good for eyes, bloating, vomiting etc. It is also used in children’s medicines.
Shunti – Zingiber officinale – 25 mg- Ginger
Flavored sugar base – q.s.

Do’s and Don’ts

Do’s:-
Ensure proper and timely breast feeding of the child.
Have proper nutritious food especially rich in calcium to ensure proper health.

Don’t:-
Avoid smoking, tobacco chewing and alcohol during lactation period.

Side effects

Side effects of Galakol Granules:
There are no known side effects with this medicine.
This product cannot be taken by diabetic patients.
Store in a cool dry place, away from sunlight.
Keep out of reach and sight of children.
Seek your doctor’s advice for its usage during pregnancy.
This product can be safely used during lactation period and in children for a limited period of few weeks time.
