Meaning

The word Mutrakrichantak is made up of three words – Mutra + Krich + Antak. Mutra means urine, Krich means difficulty and Antak means the end. It means the End of Difficulty in Urination.

The Mutrakrichantak Churna is a herbal formulation prepared with the nature’s best herbs for all the kidney problems.

The herbs that are used in the preparation Mutrakrichantak Churna have been used since ages in Ayurveda. The names of herbal formulations may change according to the ingredients used and the methods in which they are prepared or the diseases in which they are indicated.

Mutrakrichantak Churna contains Gokshura, Punarnava, Varuna, Shigru, Apamarg, Kasani, Bhumi Amla as the main ingredients. Seeing the indications, it is clear that this medicine is prescribed in kidney and urinary disorders of all kinds.

These herbs act in a synergistic manner and clear the blocks that obstruct the flow of urine, thus Mutrakrichantak Churna clears the channels and pathways for the toxic elements to be eliminated properly.

Kidneys are the organs that have numerous biological roles in maintaining the homoeostatic balance of the body fluids by removing wastes out of the body. Various kidney disorders include – Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), high levels of urea and creatinine, dysuria etc. has always remained a major area of concern since a long time as it leads to irreversible deterioration in renal function which classically develops over a period of years. Incidences of kidney diseases are increasing at a rapid rate. Initially, renal disorders involving kidney malfunction, is manifested only as a biochemical abnormality. Eventually without proper treatment and follow up loss of the excretory, metabolic and endocrine functions of the kidney leads to the development of the clinical symptoms and signs of renal failure.  The conventional approach of management includes dialysis and renal transplantation, which are not easily affordable. If still one can afford it, its costs have to be borne for life time and there are certain complication problems after a transplant may include post-operative complication, bleeding, infection, vascular thrombosis and transplant rejection. Therefore, there is a need of alternative safe therapy which proves to be helpful in reducing the requirement of dialysis.

Ayurvedic approach to Renal Failure

In Ayurveda, Vrikka-Vikara may be considered as an end stage induced by Premeha, where the urine becomes turbid. The turbidity is due to the infiltration of the Premaha’s – Dushya’s which include Medo-Rakta-Mamsa-Majja-Shukra-Udaka, Rasa, Lasika and Oja. It means that higher destruction and involvement of these impurities lead to the development of turbid urine. In agreement to the above statement, should we go through the contemporary literatures, it has been noted that higher levels of creatinine indicate a lower glomerular filtration rate and as a result a decreased capability of the kidneys to excrete waste products. The advantage of using Ayurvedic products is that in most of the patients, the kidney damage can either be partly or fully reversed, the frequency of the dialysis can be reduced. Thus, Ayurvedic products for the kidney diseases have the potential for an important therapeutic contribution in all the stages of kidney disorders.

Shloka- Sanskrit verse

It is said in Ayurveda that –

य एव देहस्य समा विवृद्धये त पव दोषा विषमा वधाय ।
यस्मादतस्ते हितचर्ययैवं क्षयाद्विवृद्धेरिव रक्षणीयाः ॥ ४५ ॥

Doshas which normally help to grow body healthy lead to its destruction sometimes, therefore by adopting some appropriate measures, we can protect body form their imbalance and negative effects.
