Diasyn Tablet: Uses, Ingredients, Dose, Side Effects

Diasyn Tablet is a proprietary Ayurvedic medicine manfuactured by J & J DeChane Laboratories Pvt. Ltd. It is a soothing combination of drug for the treatment of diarrhea and dysentery. 

Indications

Indication of Diasyn Tablet:
Amoebic and bacillary dysentery
Diarrhea
Mucous colitis
Intestinal fermentation
Infantile diarrhoea

Dose

Dosage of Diasyn Tablet:
Adults – 1-2 tablets every 4 hours.
Children – ½-1 tablet every 4 hours.

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine or as directed by the physician.

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

How long to use?
This product can be used for a period of 2 – 3 months of time, based on your doctor’s advice.

Ingredients of Diasyn Tablet:
Each uncoated tablet contains –
Haridra –  Curcuma longa – 32 mg – Turmeric
Bilva –   Aegle marmelos – 87 mg – Bael
Kutaja – Holarrhena antidy sentrica – 66 mg
Daruharidra –  Berberis aristata – 88.5 g
Jeeraka – Cuminum cyminum – 7.7 mg
Dhataki – Woodfordia fruticosa – 9.7 mg – Dhataki is the backbone herb of almost all Asava and Arishta preparations. (Alcoholic liquid Ayurvedic medicines). It is used as ingredient in many products for its medicinal values. At the same time, it is also used as a fermenting agent in Asava and Arishta (such as Dashamoolarishta).
Ajamoda – Ptychotis ajowan – 9.7 mg
Saptaparna  –  Alstonias cholaris – 7.7 mg – Dita Bark is a famous bitter-astringent tasting Ayurvedic herb used in skin diseases, intestinal worm infestation etc. It is named so, because its leaf occurs in a bunch of 7 whorls (7 – 10 small leaflets forming a bunch).

Pharmacology

Pharmacology of Diasyn Tablet:
Kutaja&Bilva are the 2 well-known drugs used for the treatment of diarrhea and dysentery, particularly for acute and chronic amoebic dysentery. Kutaja has been found to be very effective by Indian & western authorities.

Daruharidra has recently been found to be very effective in bacterial diarrhoeas including bacillary dysentery and gastro-enteritis. It is believed to be effective against both trophozoite and cystic forms of Entamoebahistolytica.

Dhataki is used in dysentery, diarrhea and bowel complaints.
Haritaki is highly useful in chronic dysentery and diarrhea.
Saptaparna is useful in chronic dysentery and diarrhea.
Cumin is carminative and cooling.

Ajamoda is useful in diarrhea and spasmodic affections of the bowels.
A judicious combination of these drugs is not only effective against diarrhea and dysentery, but has a soothing effect on intestinal mucosa.

Diasyn is safe and free from toxicity.

Side effects

Side effects of Diasyn Tablet:
There are no known side effects with this medicine.
However, it is best to use this medicine under medical supervision.
Store in a cool dry place, away from sunlight.
Keep out of reach and sight of children.
Seek your doctor’s advice for its usage during pregnancy.
This product can be safely used during lactation period and in children for a limited period of few weeks time.
