Decazyme Syrup: Uses, Ingredients, Dose, Side Effects

Decazyme Syrup is a proprietary Ayurvedic medicine manufactured by Sagar Pharmaceuticals. It is a carminative and anti-spasmodic medicine used in treating digestive disorders.

It is a powerful digestive tonic to improve digestion and for better absorption of nutrients from food.
It is a carminative and also an appetizer, useful in people with low digestion strength, low appetite and lack of interest in food.
It is having palatable and spicy taste.

Ingredients

Ingredients of Decazyme Syrup:
Each 10 ml of syrup contains –
Ajamoda -Ptychotis ajowan – 300 mg
Amalaki -Embelica officinalis- 500 mg – Amla – Indian gooseberry
Vacha -Acorus calamus – 250 mg – sweet flag
Pippali -Piper longum – 100 mg – Long pepper fruit
Shunti -Zingiber officinale – 200 mg – Ginger rhizome
Maricha -Piper nigrum – 50 mg – Black pepper
(Ginger, pepper and black pepper – together are called Trikatu)

Ela -Elettariaca rdamomum – 50 mg – Cardamom
Chitraka -Plumbago zeylanica – 75 mg – Leadwort
Jeeraka -Cuminum mcyminum – 350 mg – cumin seeds
Rasona -Alium sativum – 25 mg – garlic – Garlic is anti aging spice. It is hot, cleansing, cardiac tonic, digestive, good for eyes, improves hair strength and quality, useful in cough, asthma etc. But needs some precautions while administering it.

Indication

Indication of Decazyme Syrup:
Anorexia
Loss of appetite
Indigestion, weak digestion power.
Flatulence
Colicky pain

Dose and duration of use

Dosage of Decazyme Syrup:
Adults – 10 ml 2-3 times a day.
Children – 5 ml 2-3 times a day.
Infants – 2.5 ml 2-3 times a day, Or as directed by the physician.

How long to use?
This product can be used for a period of 2 – 3 months of time, based on your doctor’s advice.

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine or as directed by the physician.

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

Side effects

Side effects of Decazyme Syrup:
There are no known side effects with this medicine.
Over dosage may cause worsening of gastritis or burning sensation in chest and throat.
However, it is best to use this medicine under medical supervision.
Store in a cool dry place, away from sunlight.
Keep out of reach and sight of children.
Seek your doctor’s advice for its usage during pregnancy.
This product can be safely used during lactation period and in children for a limited period of few weeks time.
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are diabetic. In diabetic patients, only if the blood sugar is under good control, then this medicine can be given.
