Datturadi Kwatha: Uses, Ingredients, Dose, Side Effects

Datturadi Kwatha is a traditional Ayurvedic medicine manufactured by Pentacare Pharmaceuticals. It is used for the treatment of asthma and bronchitis.  

Ingredients

Ingredients of Datturadi Kwatha:
Each 10 ml contains extracts of –
Trikatu -Zingiber officinale, Piper longum, Piper nigrum – 750 mg
Yastimadhu -Glycyrrhiza glabra – 350 mg
Kantakari -Solanum xanthocarpum – 750 mg – It is a very useful Ayurvedic herb, used widely in the treatment of cough, cold, asthma and such other respiratory tract conditions.
Haridra -Curcuma longa – 750 mg
Tambula -Piper betel – 750 mg
Chitraka -Plumbago zeylanica – 750 mg
Apamarga -Achyranthes aspera – 750 mg
Rasna -Pluchea lanceolata – 750 mg
Ashwagandha -Withania somnifera – 750 mg
Navasara -Ammonium chloride – 10 mg
Vidanga -Embelica ribes – 500 mg
Daruharidra -Berberis aristata – 100 mg
Dattura -Datura metel – 250 mg
Vacha -Acorus calamus – 500 mg
Twak -Cinnamomum zeylanicum – 450 mg
Patra -Cinnamomum tamala – 440 mg
Jatiphala -Myristica fragrans – 550 mg

Indication

Indication of Datturadi Kwatha:
Bronchial asthma
Allergic respiratory disorders
Cough & rhinitis

Dose and duration of use

Dosage of Datturadi Kwatha:
5-15 ml twice or thrice a day mixed with equal amount of water before food.

How long to use?
This product can be used for a period of 2 – 3 months of time, based on your doctor’s advice.

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine or as directed by the physician.

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

Side effects

Side effects of Datturadi Kwatha:
There are no known side effects with this medicine.
However, it is best to use this medicine under medical supervision.
Store in a cool dry place, away from sunlight.
Keep out of reach and sight of children.
Seek your doctor’s advice for its usage during pregnancy and lactation.
It can be given in lower doses of 5 ml in children above the age of 3, under medical supervision.
