Cephagraine Tablet: Uses, Ingredients, Dose, Side Effects

Cephagraine Tablet is a proprietary Ayurvedic medicine manufactured by Charak Pharmaceuticals. It is a natural therapy for sinusitis and migraine. 

In sinusitis Cephagraine reduces inflammation, liquefies mucous and relieves congestion.
Cephagraine reduces frequency, severity and duration of migraine by anti-inflammatory and analgesic property. It also relieves migraine associated with sensory aura such as- headache, nausea, vomiting and tinnitus.
Cephagraine constricts the dilated blood vessels in the nose, head and brain to reduce the migraine attack.

Ingredients

Ingredients of Cephagraine Tablet:
Each tablet contains –
Keshara [Crocos sativus]
Sarjikshara [Sodium carbonate]
Arka pushpa [Calotropis gigantea] – It is widely used many Ayurvedic treatments, both externally (ksharasutra) and internally. It is a very common herb seen widely throughout India.
Pippalimoola [Piper longum] – Long pepper root
Dhatura [Datura metel]
Ajamoda [Carum copticum]
Godanti [Purified Gypsum]
Sitopaladi choorna – It is one of the very easy-to-make Ayurvedic herbal powder mix. It is one of the best and widely used Ayurvedic medicines for cough, even for kids.
Nishottara [Operculina turpethum] – rivrit is an important Ayurvedic herb, used in treatment of Kapha and Pitta dominant disorders. Apart from being useful as a medicinal herb, it is also a very important herb used in Panchakarma treatment called as Virechana – Purgation treatment.
Bringaraja [Eclipta alba]
Shunti [Zingiber officinale]
Tulasi [Ocimum sanctum]

Migraine syndrome
Tension/vascular headache
Sinusitis

Dose, do’s, don’ts

Dosage of Cephagraine Tablet:
In sinusitis – 2 tables twice a day to be taken orally. The course may be repeated after a month.
In migraine – 2 tablets twice a day to be taken orally. The course may be repeated after a month.
How long to use?
It can be safely used for a period of 2 – 3 months time, with gradual decrease in dosage.

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine or as directed by the physician.

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

Do’s:-
Consumption of cow’s milk and cow’s ghee.
Early to bed is very useful.
Consumption of turmeric, garlic, ginger and black pepper is recommended.
Prefer bland diet.

Don’ts:-
Avoid fried and spicy foods.
Avoid food items which cause indigestion and constipation.
Avoid exposure to excessive heat, cold and rain.
Avoid day time sleeping and spending sleepless night.
Avoid curd, bananas and dried things.
Avoid drinking cold water and ice-cream.
Avoid exposure to rain, excessive cold wind, smoke and dust.
Avoid irregular dietary habits.

Side effects, package

Side effects of Cephagraine Tablet:
There are no recorded side effects with this medicine.
Over-dosage may cause gastritis, heart burn symptoms in people with sensitive stomach.
This product should be strictly taken under medical supervision.
Take this medicine only in the prescribed dose for the prescribed period of time.
It is best to avoid this product during pregnancy and lactation.
Store in a cool dry place, in an air tight container, away from direct sunlight.
Keep out of reach and sight of children.

Shelf life or expiration date: 3 years from the date of manufacture.
