Caratol-E Capsule: Uses, Ingredients, Dose, Side Effects

Caratol-E Capsule is a proprietary Siddha medicine manufactured by Dr.JRK’s Siddha Research & Pharmaceuticals Pvt. Ltd. Caratol-E Capsule is a herbo-mineral formulation which is effective in the management of vitiligo (leucoderma) and other hypo-pigmentory disorders. 

Caratol-E Capsule along with Tolenorm Oil & Tolenorm Ointment helps in rapid restoration of pigmentation through systematic immune modulation. Studies done have proven the synergistic effect of the combination of Tolenorm, Caratol-E and Bekay Capsules as having the high success rate in the management of vitiligo and hypopigmentory problems.

Increases dendrite length of melanocytes for effective melanin transfer.
Recovery of pigments through melanocyte proliferation and melanin induction.
Helps rapid restoration of pigmentation through systematic immune modulation.

Ingredients

Ingredients of Caratol-E Capsule:
Each 500 mg capsule contains extracts of –
Madhusnuhi [Smilax china] – 100 mg
Vidanga [Embelica ribes] – 50 mg – Vidanga is one of the powerful anti-parasitic herbs of Ayurveda. It is widely used against intestinal worm infestation. It is called False black pepper., because it mimics pepper in appearance.
Ashwagandha [Withania somnifera] – 100 mg
Ela [Elettaria cardamomum] – 10 mg
Bakuchi [Psoralea corylifolia] – 50 mg – Bakuchi is an Ayurvedic herb, very well known for its efficacy against skin diseases including leucoderma.
Pippali [Piper longum] – 50 mg
Sangu parpam – 50 mg
Linga chendooram – 1 mg
Ponnimilai chendooram – 1 mg
Excipients – q.s.

Indication and contraindication

Indication of Caratol-E Capsule:
Vitiligo
Hypo-pigmantory problems

Contra-indications of Caratol-E Capsule:
Not recommended during pregnancy & lactation.
In cases where sensitivity is noticed, severe erythema, itching etc., occur during the treatment, can be suspended till the sensitive reaction disappears.
Medical advice may be sought if warranted.
Over-dosage may cause gastritis, heart burn symptoms in people with sensitive stomach.
This product should be strictly taken under medical supervision.
Take this medicine only in the prescribed dose for the prescribed period of time.
It is best to avoid this product during pregnancy and lactation.
Store in a cool dry place, in an air tight container, away from direct sunlight.
Keep out of reach and sight of children.

Dose, duration of use

Dosage of Caratol-E Capsule:
Adults – 1 capsule in the morning & 2 capsules at night after food with milk or water, or as directed by your Ayurvedic doctor.
Children above 10 years – 2 capsule a day after food with milk or water, or as directed by your Ayurvedic doctor.

How long to use?
It can be safely used for a period of 3 – 4 months time, with gradual decrease in dosage.

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine or as directed by the physician.

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

Diet & other recommendations:

Sour tasting food, allergens like tomato, brinjals and certain varieties of fish that are prone to cause allergy to be
avoided.
Food with high nutrition value should be taken.
Situations of physical and emotional stress should be avoided.
