Alstocin Tablets: Uses, Dose, Ingredients, Side Effects

Alstocin Tablet is a proprietary Ayurvedic medicine manufactured by Virgo UAP Pharma. It is the combination of antipyretic, analgesic and diaphoretic herbs. It is very effective for the pyrexia of various etiology.

Ingredients

Ingredients of Alstocin Tablet:

  • Lathakaranja churna [Ceasalpinia crista] –38.6 mg
  • Guduchi satva [Tinospora cordifolia] – 18.6 mg
  • Chiratatikta [Swertia chirata] – 12.4 mg
  • Kutaja – Kuda [Holarrhena antidysenterica] – 6.2 mg – Kutaja is a very famous herb used in treating diarrhoea, irritable bowel syndrome, fever etc. It is used in preparing very common Ayurvedic medicines like Kutajarishta, Kutaj Ghanavati etc.
  • Chinchona churna [Cinchona officinalis] – 6.2 mg
  • Kuchala churna [Strychnos nuxvomica] – 5.6 mg
  • Chativan Ghana [Alstonia scholaris] – 12.4 mg – Alstonia scholaris / Saptaparna is a famous bitter-astringent tasting Ayurvedic herb used in skin diseases, intestinal worm infestation etc. It is named so, because its leaf occurs in a bunch of 7 whorls (7 – 10 small leaflets forming a bunch).

Indication

Indication of Alstocin Tablet:

  • Malarial fever
  • Viral fever
  • Pyrexia of unknown origin
  • Chronic fever.

Dose

Dosage of Alstocin Tablet:
2-3 tablets thrice daily with water, or as directed by the physician.

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine or as directed by the physician.

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

Side effects, package

Side effects of Alstocin Tablet:
There are no recorded side effects with this medicine.
This should be taken under medical supervision.
As per my experience, it is useful in controlling fever. But a cure of Malaria with this medicine alone cannot be promised. During Malaria, consult your doctor directly.
Store in a cool dry place, in an air tight container.
Keep out of reach and sight of children.

    • I have not used this.
      I am too scared to handle a case of Malaria as the disease is of quite serious nature.
      If I get a chance to treat, I would use Ayurvedic medicines only as supplementary.
