Lakshadi Kuzhampu: Benefits, How To Use, Ingredients

Lakshadi Kuzhampu is an Ayurvedic massage oil used to improve muscle strength. it is manufactured by Arya Vaidya Sala, Kottakkal. It is useful in the weak and emaciated patients.

Uses of Lakshadi Kuzhambu:
Malnourished body
Lack of muscle strength
Muscular dystrophy
Muscle wasting
To improve strength in paralysis.
Osteo arthritis
Post viral fever, when the patient complains of body, muscle and joint pains
Bursitis,  
Bursitis trochanterica,
Shoulder dislocation pain

Ingredients of Lakshadi Kuzhampu:
Tila taila – sesame oil
Ghrita – cow ghee
Eranda taila – castor oil
Laksha – Laccifer lacca
Haridra (Curcuma longa) – Turmeric
Kusta (Sausserea costus)
Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera)
Daru haridra (Berberis aristata)
Musta (Cyperus rotendus)
Chandana (Santalum album)
Shatavari (Asperagus racemosus)
Rasna (Alpinia galanga)
Rohini (Picrorrhiza kurroa
Hemakanda (Maerua arenaria)
Nirgundi (Vitex nigundo)
Madhu – honey
Dadhi mastu – supernatent liquid part of curd

Direction for use

Direction for use of Lakshadi Kuzhampu:
Apply slightly heated oil on the body 1 hour before bathing. It is used to apply over the body only.

Side effects, shelf life

Precautions and side effects:
This product is meant for external application only.
Accidental oral intake may cause loose stools, diarrhea and gastritis

Shelf life of Lakshadi Kuzhambu:
2 years from the date of manufacture.

During pregnancy, lactation

If you were using this oil before pregnancy without any allergic reaction, you can continue using this oil even during pregnancy.
If you have not used this product before and wish to use it during pregnancy, better to consult a doctor because it can cause skin allergy in some rare cases.
It is generally considered as safe to use during lactation, however consult your doctor for the right advice.

Can this product be applied after steam therapy?
No. Oil is best applied before steam therapy. This is as per basic Ayurvedic principles.
