Dusparsakadi Kashayam: Uses, Dose, Ingredients, Side Effects

Dusparsakadi Kashayam is an Ayurvedic herbal decoction, used for the treatment for  hemorrhoids and fistula. It is manufactured by Kottakkal Arya Vaidya Sala. It is also available in tablet form.

Uses of Dusparsakadi Kashayam, Kwatham (tablet)
Excellent in pain and other symptoms related with piles and fistula.
It improves digestion strength and eases bowel movements.
It decreases body heat and relieves burning sensation.

Ingredients

Ingredients of Dusparsakadi Kashayam:

  • Dusparsha (Yavasa, Dhamasa, Dularalabha)  – Tragia involucrata
  • Bilva (Aegle marmelos)
  • Yavani (Carum copticum)
  • Nagara (Zingiber officinale)
  • Patha (Cyclea peltata)

Mode of action in case of piles and fistula
Yavasa is a coolant and useful to stop bleeding.
Bilva is useful in shrinking the pile mass, it is a very good anti inflammatory herb.
Yavani, ginger and patha are useful to reduce pain, inflammation and correct liver functions.

Dose, adjuvants

Dosage of Dusparsakadi Kashayam:
5-15 ml mixed with 4 times of boiled and cooled water, or as directed by the physician.

Dose of Dusparsakadi Kwatham (tabet) –
1 – 2 tablets, once or twice a day, 30 minutes before food with a cup of water, or as directed by Ayurvedic doctor.

Adjuvants- Honey or Changeryadi gulika.

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine or as directed by the physician.

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

Side effects, shelf life

Side effects:
There are no known side effects with this product.
Keep out of reach and sight of children.
Store in a cool dry place.
Close the bottle tightly after usage.

Shelf life: 3 years from the date of manufacture. Once after opening the bottle, it is best to empty the bottle within 2 months of time.

    Please correct one among the ingredients
    Dusparsha is not Mucuna pruriens but
    Dusparsha means Tragia involucrata – Yavasa, Dhamasa, Dularalabha, Dushparsha.

  2. chirvilwadi and Duhsparshakadika kashayam are very frequently used in kerala for piles..can u describe the difference between the two especially w.s.r the different pathology of shushka arsha and rakta arsha

  3. I am suffering from piles I am taking dusparsakadi kwatham tablets since one month but no result observed heavily bleeding and swelling is found can you suggest appropriate medicine
