Alopakof Syrup Uses, Dose, Ingredients

Alopakof Syrup is a proptietary Ayurvedic mecine manufactured by ALOPA HERBAL pharmaceuticals, Bhuvanagiri, Bangalore. It is an effective expectorant.

Cough is a catarrhal and inflammatory condition of upper respiratory tract due to viral, allergic or mixed infection. In Ayurveda it is known as Kasa mainly due to vitiation of doshas.

Alopakof contains ingredient of multiple actions that tackle the upper respiratory tract infection of different origin.

Alopakof facilitates the relief from URTI due to its anti-tussive, anti-inflammatory, anti-infecting and immune stimulating action.

Uses

Uses of Alopakof Syrup:

  • It relieves stubborn nagging coughs and promotes easy expectoration.
  • It calms the cough centre, soothens irritated mucosa.
  • It also liquefies and expels thick mucus and induces bronchial ventilation.
  • It is free from dependence, saline expectorants, devoid of nausea and vomiting.
  • It rapidly improves the respiratory comfort of the patient.

Composition

Composition of Alopakof  Syrup:

  • Haridra (Curcuma longa)- 20mg- antiviral/antibacterial
  • Madhu (Honey)- 200 mg- expectorant
  • Kantakari (Solanum kanthocarpum) – 100 mg- natural antiallergic
  • Navasara – 80 mg- expectorant
  • Pashanabheda (Coleus aromaticus)- 50 mg- decongestants
  • Trikatu (Zyngiber officinale, Piper nigrum, Piper longum)- 50 mg- reflex stimulants
  • Tulasi (Ocimum sanctum)- 200 mg- antiviral/antibacterial
  • Vacha (Acorus calamus)- 50 mg- mucolytic/ antitussive
  • Vasaka (Adathoda vasica)- 250 mg- mucolytic/ antitussive
  • Vibhitaki (Terminalia bellerica)- 100 mg- demulcent
  • Yastimadhu (Glycyrrhiza glabra)- 300 mg- demulcent

Indication

Indication of Alopakof Syrup:

  • Upper respiratory tract infection
  • Allergic cough
  • Bronchitis
  • Dry irritating cough
  • Cough with expectoration.

Dose, package

Dosage of Alopakof Syrup:

  • Adults- 2 tea spoon 3 times a day.
  • Children- 1 tea spoon 3 times a day.

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine or as directed by the physician.

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

Precautions

Seek your doctor’s advice if you are diabetic. In diabetic patients, only if the blood sugar is under good control, then this medicine can be given.
