Svayambhuva Guggul – Benefits, Dose, Side Effects

Svayambhuva Guggul is an Ayurvedic tablet used in treating vitiligo, skin disorders with excess itching, anemia, gout etc. 

Ingredients

Swayambhuva Guggulu Ingredients:
Shashilekha – Bakuchi – Psoralea corylifolia – 5 Pala – 240 g
Girija – Shilajeet – 240 g
Guggulu – Commiphora mukul – 480 g
Tapya – Swarna Makshika Bhasma – 3 pala – 144 g
Lohabhasma – 2 Pala – 96 g
Sravani – Mundi – Sphaeranthus indicus – 96 g
Triphala – Amla, Haritaki, Vibhitaki – each – 48 g
Karanja Pallava  â€“ Pongamia pinnata leaves – 48 g
Khadira – Gum acacia – Acacia catechu – 48 g
Guduchi – Tinospora cordifolia – 48 g
Trivrit – Operculina turpethum – 48 g
Danti – Baliospermum montanum  â€“ 48 g
Musta – Nut grass (root) – Cyperus rotundus – 48 g
Vidanga – False black pepper – Embelia ribes – 48 g
Rajani – Turmeric – 48 g
Kutajatwak – Bark of Holarrhena antidysenterica – 48 g
Nimba – Neem Bark – 48 g
Vahni – Chitraka – Leadwort – Plumbago zeylanica – 48 g
Sampaka – Amaltas – Cassia fistula – 48 g
The fine powder of above ingredients is mixed with honey and tablets of 500 mg are prepared.

Dose and co-drink

Dose :1 – 2 tablets once or twice a day, after food, or as directed by physician Anupana – It is indicated to be administered along with cow urine.

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine or as directed by the physician.

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

Side effects, shelf life

Side effects:
In sensitive people with Pitta body type, this tablet may produce excess heat or gastritis.
In some, it may cause loose stools.
It is better to avoid this medicine during pregnancy and lacataion period.
It can be given to children above 5 years of age, in very low doses.

Shelf life: 3 – 5 years
