Adityapaka Tailam – Benefits, How To Use, Ingredients, Side Effects

Adityapaka Tailam is an Ayurvedic oil. It is an Ayurvedic medicine, used mainly in the treatment of skin diseases.   It contains ingredients of herbal and mineral origin.  Unlike the regular Ayurvedic oils, this oil is prepared by heating the ingredients by using Sunlight as the fuel. Hence the name Adityapaka. Aditya means sun. paka means making of oil.

Uses, method of usage

Adityapaka Tailam uses:
It is used in various skin diseases such as dermatitis, allergic skin conditions,  scabies and itches.

Adityapaka Tailam – how to use?
It is used for external application only. The affected skin area is applied with this oil, left as it is for 10 – 15 minutes, then washed with luke warm water. The oil can be applied 1 – 2 times a day.

This is heated in the sun and then applied on the body for at least two hours and washed off with warm water. For removing the oil, green gram paste or other herbal items can be used.

Precaution if you apply this oil over feet:
If you apply this oil on feet, make sure to wash off thoroughly with water or wipe off with cloth. The oil can make you slippery while walking.
After applying, make sure there are no oil spills on the floor. This can make the floor slippery.

Side effects and precautions

Adityapaka Thailam side effects and precautions:
Pregnant, lactating mothers and children should seek medical advice before using this medicine.
Accidental oral intake may lead to arsenic poisoning.
Use only till the time, as advised by doctor.

Ingredients

Adityapak Tail ingredients:
Manjishta – Rubia cordifolia
Triphala – Haritaki, Vibhitaki and Amla
Laksha – Laccifer lacca
Nisha – Turmeric
Shila – Realgar
Ala – Orpiment
Gandhaka – Sulphur
20 grams of each of above ingredients are mixed with 3 liters of water. It is further added with 3 liters of sesame oil. It is taken in a big iron vessel. Kept under intense sunlight for 8 – 10 days, till the time the water totally evaporates. Then it is filtered and preserved.

During pregnancy, lactation

If you were using this oil before pregnancy without any allergic reaction, you can continue using this oil even during pregnancy.
If you have not used this product before and wish to use it during pregnancy, better to consult a doctor because it can cause skin allergy in some rare cases.
It is generally considered as safe to use during lactation, however consult your doctor for the right advice.

Can this product be applied after steam therapy?
No. Oil is best applied before steam therapy. This is as per basic Ayurvedic principles.
