Dhatur Plus Syrup – Benefits, Dosage, Ingredients, Side Effects

Dhatur Plus Syrup is a proprietary Ayurvedic medicine, manufactured by Mukthi Pharma, Trivendrum. It is used in the treatment of asthma, cough etc. 

Uses

Dhatur Plus Syrup uses:
As per the claims of manufacturer, it is indicated in Ayurvedic treatment of bronchial asthma, chronic cough, dyspnoea, allergic cough and bronchospasm.

Effect on dosha

Effect on Tridosha – Balances Vata and Kapha.

Dose and duration of use

Dhatur Plus Syrup Dose:
Adults: 10 ml thrice daily, after food or as directed by Ayurvedic doctor.
Children: 5 ml twice or thrice daily,  or as directed by Ayurvedic doctor.

How long to take? 
It can be taken for upto 1-2  months, based on doctor’s advice.

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine or as directed by the physician.

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

Each 100 ml contains
Dhatura – Dhatura fatuosa – 7 g
Kantakari – Yellow berried nightshade (whole plant) – Solanum xanthcarpum – 7 g
Ashwagandha – Winter cherry/ Indian Ginseng (root) – Withania somnifera (L.) Dunal. – 3 g
Vasa – Malabar nut tree (root / whole plant) – Adhatoda vasica – 3 g
Punarnava – Spreading Hogweed – Boerhaavia diffusa – 1.5 g
Haritaki – Chebulic Myrobalan fruit rind – Terminalia chebula – 1.5 g
Vibhitaki – Belliric Myrobalan fruit rind – Terminalia bellirica – 1.5 g
Shunti – Ginger Rhizome – Zingiber officinalis – 1.5 g
Twak – Cinnamon – Cinnamomum zeylanicum – 1.5 g
Yashti – Licorice – Glycyrrhiza glabra – 1.5 g
Amalaki – Indian gooseberry fruit – Emblica officinalis Gaertn. – 1.5 g
Pippali – Long pepper fruit – Piper longum – 1.5 g
Kaempferia galangal – 1.5 g
Bharngi – Root – Clerodendron serratum – 1.5 g
Karpoora – Camphor – Cinnamomum camphora – 200 mg
Sugar candy – 40 g
Sugar – 40 g

Side effects and precautions

Side effects and precautions: 
It contains Dhatura. Hence this medicine should only be taken under strict medical supervision.
This is not suitable for diabetic patients.
Special precaution is needed while prescribing this medicine to children, pregnant and lactating mothers.
over-dosage may cause slight burning sensation in stomach and toxic symptoms
Store in a cool dry place.
Use this medicine only till the prescribed time, in the prescribed dose only.
