Mincof syrup – Benefits, Dosage, Ingredients, Side Effects

Mincof syrup  is a proprietary Ayurvedic medicine, manufactured by Shree Dhootapapeshwar Limited, Mumbai, India. It is used in treatment of cough, soar throat etc. 

Uses and effect on dosha

Mincof syrup uses: It is indicated in Ayurvedic treatment of Productive Cough, Dry Cough, Whooping Cough, Tonsillitis, Sore Throat, Smoker’s Cough, Allergic Cough and asthma.

Effect on Tridosha – Balances Vata and Kapha.

Dose and duration of use

Mincof syrup Dose:

  • Infants – 2.5 ml thrice a day
  • Children – 5 ml thrice a day
  • Adults – 10 ml thrice a day, or as directed by your physician.

How long to take? It can be taken for upto 1 – 2 months, based on doctor’s advice.

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine or as directed by the physician.

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

Each 5 ml contains extract derived from –
Vasa – Malabar nut tree (root / whole plant) – Adhatoda vasica – 330 mg,
Banapsha  – Viola odorata 110 mg,
Yashti – Licorice – Glycyrrhiza glabra – 99 mg,
Kantakari – Yellow berried nightshade (whole plant) – Solanum xanthcarpum – 88 mg,
Bibhitak – Belliric Myrobalan fruit rind – Terminalia bellirica – 77 mg,
Tulsi – Holy Basil – Ocimum sanctum – 66 mg,
Haridra – Turmeric rhizome – Curcuma longa – 55 mg,
Pippali – Long pepper fruit – Piper longum – 44 mg,
Shunthi – Ginger – Zingiber officinalis – 33 mg,
Bharangi Root – Clerodendron serratum – 22 mg,
Narsar – Ammonium chloride –  22 mg,
Flavoured syrup base q.s.

Side effects

Side effect: 
Children, Pregnant and lactating mothers should take this product only under medical supervision.
keep out of reach and sight of children.
Store in a cool dry place.
Take this medicine only till the prescribed time.
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are diabetic. In diabetic patients, only if the blood sugar is under good control, then this medicine can be given.
