Giloy Satva ingredients, how to make:
Guduchi – Indian Tinospora (stem) – Tinospora cordifolia –  50 grams
water – 200 ml

Giloy stems are collected. They are cut into small pieces of 2 to 3 inch length and outer husk is removed, if required. The drug is crushed and soaked in 4 – 6 times of water. The small crushed pieces of Giloy is macerated well in the water with hands. This helps to release the starchy material of Guduchi into the water.

Then the fibrous and woody  parts are removed from the vessel and the liquid is placed undisturbed to allow the starchy particles to settle down at the bottom.

The stable water above is carefully decanted out without disturbing the starch sediment. The starch sediment is washed with little quantity of water , dried in shade completely and collected.

It is stored in moist proof air-tight glass containers. The resultant white powder is around5% of the original quantity of the herb.

  2. I have guduchi growing in my garden. Till now I have used only the leaves , one or two to chew, how do I make the best use of the plant?

    • guduchi as a whole is best useful from its leaf, stem to root. guduchi satva contains all panchangas of it. but in house hold if you want to use it, it is better to take leaves and make juice of it by crushing and consume, once the plant gets dry you can make powder of the stem and root and can be used for preparing kashayas.

    • It is very difficult to measure 500 mg in a spoon. It is roughly 1/8th of a teaspoon. Usually this is mixed with other Ayurvedic powders such as Talisadi churna, Sudarshana churna for easy dose fixing and to target the disease better.

    • Madam, Guduchi has showed the efficacy in treating diabetes mellitus by lowering blood glucose levels concluding that guduchi extract has hypoglycaemic effect. So advised to check thier blood sugar levels regularly so as to avoid any untoward symptoms.

  4. Dear Doctor,

I’m from the Middle East and Ayurvedic medicine sounds new and interesting to me. I’ve been going through a lot of stress in my life and I developed “intestinal permeability or leaky gut” that causes v ray itchy and scaly skin rashes. I’ve ordered ashwaghanda and gudduchi from India a few weeks ago. They helped a lot but my condition is still there. What do you recommend that I should take?

    Thanks so much,

    Moe
