Nimbadi Churna – Benefits, Dosage, Ingredients, Side Effects, Reference

Nimbadi Churna  is an Ayurvedic medicine, in herbal powder form.   Nimba means neem, which is the main ingredient. It is used in the Ayurvedic treatment for skin diseases, gout etc. 

Uses

Nimbadi Churna benefits:

  • It is used in the Ayurvedic treatment of skin diseases, gout, leukoderma, skin eruptions, psoriasis.
  • It heals chronic non-healing wounds, as in case of diabetic wounds
  • It is used in spleen disorders
  • It relieves joint inflammation caused due to rheumatoid arthritis.
  • It improves skin texture and complexion, if used for one month time.

Nimbadi churna, Nimbadi churnam, Nimbadi choornam, Nimbadi choorna

Effect on Tridosha – Calms Vata, Pitta and Kapha.

Dosage

1 – 3 grams given along with decoction of Giloya (Tinospora cordifolia), before or after food as advised by Ayurvedic doctor.
It is also administered with water, honey.

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine or as directed by the physician.

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

Side Effects

  • Special care is required while administering this medicine in men undergoing treatment for infertility. Because it contains Kshara as an ingredient. (Click to know why)

Nimba – Neem – Azadirachta indica – Stem bark
Amruta – Tinospora cordifolia – Stem
Abhaya – Terminalia chebula – Fruit rind
Amalaki – Phyllanthus emblica – Fruit
Somaraji – Psoralea corylifolia – Fruit

12 grams of each of
Shunti – Ginger – Zingiber officinale – Rhizome
Vidanga – Embelia ribes – Fruit
Edagaja (Chakramarda) – Cassia tora – Seed
Kana – Long pepper – Piper longum – Fruit
Yamani – Trachyspermum ammi – Fruit
Ugragandha – Acorus calamus – Rhizome
Jiraka – Cuminum cyminum – Fruit
Katuka – Picrorrhiza kurroa – Root/rhizome
Khadira – Acacia catechu –
Saindhava Lavana – rock salt
Kshara – Yavakshara – Hordeum vulgare
Haridra – Turmeric – Curcuma longa – Rhizome
Daruharidra – Berberis aristata – Stem
Mustaka – Cyperus rotundus – Root tuber
Devadaru – Cedrus deodara – Heartwood
Kushta – Saussurea lappa – Root

Method of Preparation

Powder of rock salt is roasted over low flame till it is free from all moisture. Each ingredient is powdered and weighed separately, mixed together in specified quantity to form homogeneous mixture. It is packed in a tightly closed container.

    I am using AVN nibadi choorna as face mask for acne problems.I will get fantastic result within 2 or 3 days use but then if I stop using it will actively return within four or five days.So I should use this face mask life long ? How long should I use to get a permanent solution?

  2. Hello, I am using this for psoriasis along with bakuchi oil. I feel a tingling sensation in my hands, which or these two medicines are causing that? I also have pimples, how do I create a face mask? Thanks Doctor

    My age is 19 years.My ayurveda Doctor has told to use this churan.

  4. sir iam using eladi choornam for pimple and acne for one week but resultu is not effective so do I need to shift to nimbadi churna
