Dhatryadi Ghrita is an Ayurvedic medicine, in herbal ghee form.This medicine has ghee as its base. It is used for preparatory procedure for Panchakarma and also as medicine. Dhatri refers to Amalaki (Indian gooseberry), which is the main ingredient of this herbal ghee. This medicine is based on the principle of Kerala practice.

Uses

Dhatradi Ghrita benefits: 
It is widely used as medicine and also in preparatory procedure called snehakarma for the treatment of leucorrhoea
menorrhagia, metrorrhagia, anemia, female infertility, Pitta disorders, schizophrenia, and alcoholism. This  is however equally effective for men women in pitta based vatasonita, swooning, drunken-ness, lunacy and other ailments.

Dose

Dhatryadi Ghrita dosage: 
As medicine – quarter to half teaspoon with water, usually before food, once or twice a day, or as directed by Ayurvedic doctor.
For Panchakarma preparation – Snehana procedure, the dose depends on the disease status and the judgement of Ayurvedic doctor.

It is usually administered with warm water and a little sugar.

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine or as directed by the physician.

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

Pathya

Light pathya rules are to be followed. Great care is to be taken to avoid chillies, tamarind and hot things.

Side Effects

There are no known side effects with this medicine. However it is best to use this product under medical supervision. Self medication with this medicine is discouraged.
People with diabetes, high cholesterol, heart diseases and high BP should exercise precaution.
In very high dose, it may cause diarrhea and indigestion.

Shloka Sanskrit Verse

Ingredients

Dhatri – Emblica officinalis – Juice – Fruit – 768 ml
Vidari rasa – Pueraria tuberosa – Juice – Root tuber – 768 ml
Ikshu rasa – Sugarcane juice – Stem – 768 ml
Shatavari rasa – Asparagus racemosus – Root – 768 ml
Kushmanda rasa – Benincasa hispida – Fruit pulp – 768 ml
Ghee – 768 ml
Kshira – Milk – 768 ml
24 g of each of
Mridvika – Raisins – Vitis vinifera – Dried fruit
Yasthyahva – Glycyrrhiza glabra – Root
Chandana – Sandal wood – Santalum album – Heartwood
Sita – Sugar

Method of Preparation

Juice is extracted from ingredients Dhatri to Kushmanda. Ingredients Yasthyahva and Chandana are powdered and paste is prepared along with raisins by adding sufficient quantity of water. Ghee is heated along with prepared paste and juices. It is heated and stirred continuously till there is subsidence of froth and all the moisture content is evaporated. Heating is stopped when the paste rolled between fingers forms varti (wick). This herbal ghee is packed in a tightly closed containers.
