Trikantaka Ghritam is an Ayurvedic medicine, in herbal ghee form.This medicine has ghee as its base. It is used for preparatory procedure for Panchakarma and also as medicine, used mainly for diseases related to urinary system. Trikantaka refers to Tribulus, which is the main herb of this herbal ghee.

Trikantaka Ghritam benefits: 
It is widely used as medicine and also in preparatory procedure called snehakarma for the treatment of Urinary tract infections, diabetes, calculus.

Dose

Trikantaka Ghritam dosage: 
As medicine – quarter to half teaspoon with water, usually before food, once or twice a day, or as directed by Ayurvedic doctor.
For Panchakarma preparation – Snehana procedure, the dose depends on the disease status and the judgement of Ayurvedic doctor.
It is usually administered with warm water or Laghupanchamoola kwatha.

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine or as directed by the physician.

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

Pathya

Hot items like chillies, tamarind, garlic, horse gram and asafoetida are to be avoided. So also body movements. Sex should be subject to medical advice only. It will be better to take milk boiled with the fruits of Gokshura (Tribulus terrestris) after evening meal. Delay in meal times is to be avoided.

Side effects

Trikantaka Ghritam Side Effects: 
There are no known side effects with this medicine. However it is best to use this product under medical supervision. Self medication with this medicine is discouraged.
People with diabetes, high cholesterol, heart diseases and high BP should exercise precaution.
In very high dose, it may cause diarrhea and indigestion.

Trikantaka – Tribulus terrestris – Fruit – 768 g
Water for decoction – 12.288 liters
Boiled and reduced to – 3.072 liters

Ela – cardamom – Eletteria cardamomum – Seeds – 9.140 grams
Purified Shilajatu
Shilabheda – Aerva lanata – Rhizome – 9.140 grams
Yashtimadhu – Glycyrrhiza glabra – Root – 9.140 grams
Shatavari – Asparagus racemosus – Root – 9.140 grams
Darbha – Desmostachya bipinnata – Root – 9.140 grams
Ambu – Pavonia odorata – Root – 9.140 grams
Shaundi – Piper longum – Fruit – 9.140 grams
Vasuka – Adhatoda zeylanica – Plant – 9.140 grams
Vasiraka – Piper cubeba – Root – 9.140 grams
Kasha – Saccharum spontaneum – Root – 9.140 grams

Method of Preparation

Coarse powder of Gokshura is added with specified quantity of water and boiled till it reduces to quarter part, decoction is prepared and filtered. Ingredients from Ela to Matsyakshika is made into paste by adding sufficient quantity of water. Murchita ghee is heated, added with paste and stirred continuously while adding decoction and milk. Heating is stopped when there is subsidence of froth, all the moisture content is evaporated and when the paste rolled between fingers forms varti (wick). It is then packed in a tightly closed container.
