Ardhabilva kashayam – Benefits, Dose, Side Effects And Ingredients

Ardhabilva kashayam is an effective Ayurvedic medicine in liquid form. It is used in Ayurvedic treatment for inflammatory conditions. It is also known by the terms Ardhavilwa kashayam, Ardhabilwa kashayam etc

Benefits

Ardhabilwa kashayam benefits: 
It is used in inflammatory conditions. It helps to reduce pain and swelling. Very good for anasarca and anemia, and removes obstruction to bowel movements. This is most useful in grahani of children showing early signs of dropsy.

Dosage


The dose is 12 – 24 ml, before food, at about 6 am and 6pm or as directed by Ayurvedic doctor.
It is usually advised to add equal amount of water to the kashayam.

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine or as directed by the physician.

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

Pathya

Generally non-vegetarian, leafy preparations, snacks made of gingelly, curd, alcohol, too much of salt, tamarind, and food items not usually taken and difficult to digest, day time sleep, sex and col water must be totally avoided. Bathe in water boiled with Kokilaksha (Hygrophila auriculata) cooled for the head and warm for the body, using Panchamla tailam or Punarnavadi tailam. Don’t bathe daily. Butter milk boiled with Punarnava (Boerhaavia diffusa) is good for drinking and to be taken with rice.

Side Effects


There are no known side effects of this medicine.
A very high dose may cause diarrhoea.

Ginger
Brihati (Solanum indicum var.)
Bhunimba (Andrographis paniculata)
Apamarga (Achyranthes aspera)
Duralabha (Fagonia arabica)
Punarnava (Boerhaavia diffusa)
Bilwa (Aegle marmelos)

It is added with 8 parts of water, boiled and reduced to quarter part, filtered.
