Colicarmin Drops: Uses, Ingredients, Dose, Side Effects

Colicarmin Drops is a proprietary Ayurvedic medicine manufactured by BAN Labs Ltd. It is used for the treatment of digestion problems in children. 

Colic is the most common problem in infants and children because of partially developed digestive function which leads to spasmodic pain, diarrhea, nausea, indigestion and frequent infections. Colicarmin is safe remedy as digestive, carminative, anthelmintic & spasmolytic without any drug dependence and opium content.

Ingredients

Ingredients of Colicarmin Drops:
Each 1 ml contains –
Vacha [Acorus calamus] – 1 mg – Sweet flag.
Parasika yavani [Hyoscyamus niger] – 0.75 mg – Henbane.
Ativisha [Aconitum heterophyllum] – 0.50 mg
Soya [Puecedanum graveolens] – 4 mg
Ela [Elettaria cardamomum] – 3 mg – Cardamom – useful in diarrhea, vomiting and nausea.
Kanta karanja [Caesalpinia bonducella] – 2 mg
Sauvarchala lavana [Black salt] – 2 mg
Hingu [Ferula asafoetida] – 1 mg – Asafoetida – useful in abdominal pain and improves digestion.
Saindhava lavana [Rock salt] – 1 mg
Nimba satva [Azadirachta indica] – 1 mg – lemon extract
Flavored syrup base – q.s.

Indications

Indication of Colicarmin Drops:
Colic & griping pain
Abdominal distension
Dysentery & diarrhea
Convulsions
Hysterical temperaments
Fits

Dose, duration of use

Dosage of Colicarmin Drops:
Neonates [3 -6 months] – 2-4 drops 4-6 times a day.
Infants [6 months-1year] – 3-5 drops 4-6 times a day.
Children [1-3 year] – 4-6 drops 4-6 times a day.
Children [3-5 years] – 10 drops 4-6 times a day.
Or as directed by the physician.

How long to use?
It can be safely used for a period of 2 – 3 months time, with gradual decrease in dosage.

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine or as directed by the physician.

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

Side effects of Colicarmin Drops:
There are no recorded side effects with this medicine.
It should be taken under medical supervision.
Store in a cool dry place, in an air tight container, away from direct sunlight.
This product can be safely used during lactation period and in children for a limited period of few weeks time.
Keep out of reach and sight of children.
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are diabetic. In diabetic patients, only if the blood sugar is under good control, then this medicine can be given.
