Balsakha Syrup: Uses, Ingredients, Dose, Side Effects

Balsakha Syrup is a proprietary Ayurvedic medicine manufactured by Chirayu Pharmaceuticals. It is used to treat ‘Danthodbhava janya vyadhis’ [dentition disorders] in children. 

Ingredients

Ingredients of Balsakha Syrup:
Each 5 ml contains –
Vidanga [Embelica ribes] – 33.35 mg
Athasi [Linum usitatissimum] – 33.35 mg – Flaxseed / linseed along with Flax seed oil are used both externally and orally since the times of Charaka. It is used in treating cholesterol, obesity, arthritis, high BP, wounds, abscesses etc.
Pippali [Piper longum] – 33.35 mg – Long pepper fruit – promotes digestion and metabolism
Vacha [Acorus calamus] – 33.35 mg – initiates normal speech,
Haritaki [Terminalia chebula] – 33.35 mg – Harad
Sanay [Cassia angustifolia] – 33.35 mg
Samudraphala [Barringtonia acutangula] – 33.35 mg

Uses

Indication of Balsakha Syrup:
Dentition disorders in children – digestion related problem while new teeth develop in children.
Indigestion
Loss of appetite/anorexia
Malnutrition

Dose

Dosage of Balsakha Syrup:
1-3 months – 10 drops.
3-12 months – ¼ tsp.
1-3 years – ½ tsp.
Above 3 years – 1 tsp twice or thrice a day, or as directed by the physician.

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine or as directed by the physician.

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

Side effects, package, shelf life

Side effects of Balsakha Syrup:
There are no recorded side effects with this medicine.
This product is not suitable for people with diabetes.

Shelf life or expiration date: 3 years from the date of manufacture.
