Viswamritam: Uses, Dose, Ingredients, Side effects

Viswamritam is used for the treatment of Grahani, Diarrhea, Poor digestion, Anorexia and Ama jwara conditions. It is a proprietary Ayurvedic medicine, manufactured by Arya Vaidya Sala, Kottakkal. Viswamritam is an herbal liquid formulation.

It is of established value in Indigestion and Stomach pain.
Also helpful in Amajwara conditions [acute stage of fever] and puerperal troubles

Ingredients of Viswamritam:
Kashaya dravyas-
Nagara (Zingiber officinale)
Jala (Water)

Sandhana dravyas –
Guda (Jaggery)
Dhataki (Woodfordia fruticosa)
Prakshepaka dravyas-
Talisapatra (Abies webbiana)
Chitraka (Plumbago zeylanica)
Ela (Elettaria cardamomum)
Lavanga (Syzygium aromaticum)
Musta (Cyperus rotendus)
Maricha (Piper nigrum)
Yasthimadhu (Glycyrrhiza glabra)
Pippali (Piper longum)
Ajamoda (Carum roxburghiana)
Nagara (Zingiber officinale)

Method of preparation

Method of preparation-
Prepare the Kashaya or decoction by boiling the kashaya dravyas in water and reduce to 1/4th and strain the decoction.

When the decoction is cooled add Guda, Dhataki and Prakshepaka dravyas. Keep for fermentation in a closed vessel for one month. After completion of fermentation Arista is filtered and stored in a glass bottle.

Dose, shelf life

Dosage of Viswamritam:
20-40 ml once or twice daily, after food. Or as directed by the physician

Shelf life:
10 years from the date of manufacture.

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine or as directed by the physician.

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.
