Pancha Tikta Kada Uses, Dose, Ingredients, Side Effects

Pancha Tikta Kada is a liquid Ayurvedic medicine manufactured by Swadeshi Ayurved Bhandar, Udupi. It is useful in treating fever. 

Uses

Uses of Panchatikta Kada:
It is used for the treatment of Jwara – fever. It has potent anti viral and anti bacterial effects. It is also used as preventive medicine during endemic disease outbreak.

Dose

Dose: 12 – 24 ml, once or twice a day, before or after food or as directed by physician. To dilute its bitterness, you can add equal amount of water to it, just before consumption.
Dose for children – 5 ml, mixed with 10 ml of water, once or twice a day, before or after food, as directed by Ayurvedic doctor.

For those who do not like its taste, a teaspoon of honey can be added to it, before consuming.

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine or as directed by the physician.

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

Ingredients

Ingredients of Panchatikta Kadha:
Kshudra – Solanum xanthocarpum
Amruta – Giloya – Tinospora cordifolia
Shunti – Ginger – Zingiber officinalis
Pushkaramoola – Inula racemosa
Kiratatikta – Swertia chirata – a very famous Ayurvedic herb used mainly in the treatment of infectious and inflammatory conditions like fever, skin diseases etc. The word meaning of Kirata tikta is – utterly bitter.

It is added with jaggery and fermenting agent. It is a fermented liquid medicine containing alcohol not more than 12 % v/v.

Shelf life, storage, side effects

Shelf life: 10 years from the date of manufacturing.

Storage: 
Keep out of reach and sight of children. Store in a cool dry place, away from direct sunlight.

Side effects:
There are no known side effects with this medicine.
It is best to seek medical advice for its usage during pregnancy.
It can be administered in children and in lactating mothers.
