Praval Panchamrit Ras Benefits, Dosage, Ingredients, Side Effects

Praval Panchamrit Ras  is an Ayurvedic medicine in tablet or powder form, used in treatment of bloating, anorexia, diarrhoea etc. This medicine is most commonly used in north Indian Ayurvedic practice.

Uses and effect on dosha

Praval Panchamrit Ras Uses:
It is used in the treatment of bloating, ascites, splenic disorders, cough, asthma, anorexia, indigestion, associated with Kapha and Vata doshas.
It is also indicated in weak digestion strength, belching, cardiac disorders associated with weak cardiac muscles, IBS, malabsorption syndrome, diarrhoea, antral gastritis, urinary tract disorders, urinary calculi, diabetes, etc

Praval panchamrut Ras usage in Urinary tract infection:
Because of calcium compounds, it can alkalize urine and helps to reduce the symptoms.

Effect on Tridosha – Balances  Vata and Kapha doshas.

Dose, co-drinks and duration of use

Praval Panchamrit tablets dosage:
It can be administered in a dose of 1 Valla, i.e., 375 mg once or twice a day, before or after food or as directed by Ayurvedic doctor. It can be administered with honey, ghee, milk, long pepper powder or lime juice.
And it can be administered for a period of one month based on doctor’s advice.

Anupana: Honey, pipalli choorna, nimbu swarasa
How long to use: It is administered for a period of one month.

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine or as directed by the physician.

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

Ingredients and procedure

Praval Panchamrit Ras ingredients, how to make:
10 g fine powder of each of
Mukta Bhasma – Bhasma (Calx) of Pearl
Shankha Bhasma – Bhasma of Conch Shell
Shukti Bhasma – Bhasma (Calx) of Pearl Oyster
Kaparda Bhasma – Bhasma (Calx) of Cowries
Pravala Bhasma – Bhasma (Calx) of Coral – 20 g
Latex of Arka – Calotropis procera – – 70 ml for grinding.

Method of preparation:

All these ingredients are made into sukshma choorna by pounding in khalva yantra, then arka ksheera is added, It should be triturated to make the paste and rolled into chakrika, dried in sunlight, kept in sharava samputa & given gaja puta. The resultant smooth bhasma is collected and stored.

Some author explained use of cows milk instead of arka ksheera.

Reference of this medicine is found in Bhaishajya Ratnavali Gulma Rogadhikara 139 – 143

Praval Panchamrit tablets side effects:
Self medication with this medicine is not advised.
Take this medicine in precise dose and for limited period of time, as advised by doctor.
Keep out of reach and sight of children. Store in a dry cool place.
A patient of mine complained about Severe abdominal pain after taking Dhootapapeshwar Praval Panchamrit Ras. He felt better after the medicine was withdrawn.

At the end of Sanskrit Shlokas, explaining Pravala panchamrita rasa, It is explained पथ्याश्रितं भोजनमादरेण समाचरेन्निर्मलचित्तवृत्या ।

It means,
पथ्याश्रितं भोजनमादरेण – suitable diet rule should be followed, as per the disease, while taking this medicine समाचरेन्निर्मलचित्तवृत्या – suitable, code of conduct and Satvik, positive mental habits should be adopted while taking Pravala panchamrit ras.

    but even i need to know more about the formation of calx as i m a unani practioner .is there any test that confirm that a given calx is safe for use once its beneficial effects achieved if anybody want to make it again what chemical tests we may apply that standarized the given calx to avoid kidney problems and many more.

  2. Hi, for IBS D, Ayurvedic medicines are required for long periods of time. Sudden stopping of medicines may cause the symptoms to recur or aggressive. Please consult a doctor.

    It mostly contains pitta pacifying stuff then how come it pacifies only kapha and vata and does nothing to pitta ?

  4. you have advised kutajGhan vati. can it cause constipation? although patient is going to toilets 3-4 times , he does not feel complete evacuation due to bloating and flatualance. he feels again to go to toilet.his stools are not loose. please advise.

    What is the traditional Ayurvedic recpie to make panchamrit? There are so many variations, some say in decreasing order order, milk, honey, yogurt etc.. can you please specify the exact order and the quanitity to make panchamrit?
