Jalodarari Rasa – Benefits, Dosage, Ingredients, Side Effects

Jalodarari Rasa  is an Ayurvedic medicine in tablet form, used in treatment of ascites. This medicine contains heavy metal ingredients, hence should only be taken under strict medical supervision. This medicine is most commonly used in north Indian Ayurvedic practice. 

Jalodarari Rasa Uses: It is used in the Ayurvedic treatment of ascites, and liver disorders. It is used in a Panchakarma procedure called Virechana – Purgation therapy. It is also used in treating liver disorders.

The patient is given 125 – 500 mg of this tablet, and he starts to have purgation. He is given with curd rice and green gram gruel to stop the purgation.

Effect on Tridosha – Balances Vata and Pitta

Jalodarari Ras dosage:
125 – 500 mg with water or as directed by Ayurvedic doctor.

How long to use: It is administered for a period of one month.

Jalodarari Ras side effects:
Self medication with this medicine may prove to be dangerous, since it contains heavy metal ingredient.
Take this medicine in precise dose and for limited period of time, as advised by doctor.
Over-dosage may cause sever poisonous effect.
It is best avoided in pregnancy, lactation and in children.
Keep out of reach and sight of children. Store in a dry cool place.

Jalodarari Rasa ingredients, how to make:
10 g fine powder of each of
Pippali – Long pepper fruit – Piper longum
Maricha – Black pepper – Piper nigrum
Tamra Bhasma – Bhasma prepared from Copper
Rajani – Turmeric (rhizome) – Curcuma longa
Jaipala – Croton tiglium
Snuhi Ksheera – Latex of  Euphorbia neriifolia L. – quantity sufficient for grinding.
