Bhringrajasav – Benefits, Dosage, Side Effects, Ingredients

Bhringraj Asava is one of the Ayurvedic medicines. It is mainly used to gain weight and to relieve tiredness as in emaciation. It contains 5 – 10 % of self generated alcohol. The self generated alcohol and the water present in the product acts as a media to deliver water and alcohol soluble active herbal components to the body. 

Dosage

Bhringraj Asava dose: 12 – 24 ml once or two times a day, usually after food. If the taste is not tolerated, it can be mixed with equal quantity of water.

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine or as directed by the physician.

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

Bhringarajasav for hair fall:
Doctors also use this for the treatment of hair fall. Bringraj – Eclipta alba has hair growth promoting activity, both with oral intake and external application. It is the main ingredient of this medicine.
Hair growth is also related with cell rejuvenation and anti ageing qualities. Bringrajasav being one such medicine, is very useful to treat hair loss and early graying of hairs. It is also used in grey hair treatment.

Side Effects


There are no known side effects with this product.
Higher dose may cause slight burning sensation.

Ingredients


Bhringaraja – Eclipta alba – decoction – 12.288 liters
Guda – Jaggery – 9.6 Kg
Haritaki – Terminalia chebula –  384 g
Pippali – Long pepper – 96 g
12 grams of each of
Jatiphala – Nutmeg – Myristica fragrans
Lavanga – Clove – Syzygium aromaticum
Chaturjata –

  • Twak – Cinnamon
  • Patra – Cinnamomum tamala
  • Ela – Cardamom
  • Nagakeshara – Mesua ferrea

    • Because of its pungent, bitter taste, dryness and lightness, it balances Kapha Dosha. Because of its hot potency, it balances Vata. Hence, it balances Kapha and Vata Doshas.

        • Sir, No individual is made up of one prakruthi it always will be associated with another may be kapha or may be vata. This medicine can be taken to subside the kapha and vata imbalance.

  1. Sir,is bhringarajaasava pitta vardhaka?,as pitta vriddhi cause for hair fall how can it provide preventing hair fall…is it need to use pitta samaka eg avipatti etc,while using this asava?
