  1. I’d appreciate knowing the best way to take ‘Manjistha’ by itself. It has been prescribed by my doctor. Here in US, they always sell capsules, so I’m wondering how best I could take the powder form to be most effective. Thank you

  2. Hebbar Sir, just want to know why other arishtas main ingredients(Ex- Arjun from Arjunarishta, Rohitak from Rohitkarishta along with Mulethi, Chop Chini & Gorakhmundi) were left out in mahamanjishtadi kashaym ? Wouldn’t it make it a more potent blood purifier if the other herbs were added to it or is it complete in it’s own way.

The same thing is there in liver tonics too. You find something in 1 product & something other in another. Why cann’t be there a single product which is complete with all the herbs which are essentially working in the same direction.

I think it’s a gimmick by the companies in order to extract more money from our pockets by making us purchase different products for the same work done by these products. Ex- Liver tonic will aid the liver only & blood purifier will purify the blood only.

    • I wouldn’t reach the conclusion that it’s a gimmick so easily. Different companies have the right to name their products as they deem fit. It is the doctor’s job to help us understand the product being prescribed in case we have questions. If we consult doctors, it doesn’t really matter what the companies label their products. We are not supposed to bypass doctors.

We don’t eat all fruits that help relieve constipation every time we eat fruits, we just pick one or two and they succeed in their task. So I’m not sure if it’s necessary for all herbs that have a certain effect to be put into a formula for it to be effective. Plus, each herb has multiple properties/effects, not just one, and also combining herbs together produces various different possible effects. Hence, in my view, it might not be so easy or so “black and white” to formulate a single product with all herbs in it. Perhaps a better “suggestion” in this area, to help the end consumer, would be for companies to try and follow the traditional texts closely in making these formula, in case they are not doing so, and also to name the products in some standard way so that we can compare products from different manufacturers more easily, but that’s way too optimistic for the real world, and perhaps not even truly necessary. Also, all bodies are different. One-size-fits-all doesn’t work everywhere. Variety is needed. One product may not work as effectively for everyone or may have side effects for someone and not for others. So having variety can be a good thing too.

      • Gaurav, I don’t know whether it’s a gimmick or not. Even mahamanjisthadi kshayam has several ingredients & it is made in such a manner that allows all the herbs to work in conjunction with each other. I think there hasn’t been an effort to make a single product which might have helped people like me who have to purchase atleast 2 products instead of 1. Maybe it is possible or not but I am not sure. Neither am I a doctor nor prescribing anyone any sort of medicines. I thought that it might give a direction to a team of doctors to think and develop a single formulation for the benefit of masses. Atleast one doesn’t has to waste time in finding various products if we can somehow get a single product working in the same direction.

Hey anyways did u read about Surakta from baidyanath stable. The link is :

  3. Gourav, I think I have done 1 mistake of telling you about surakta blood purifier. The link that you mentioned on your comment takes us to a product named Surakta from Vadik Herbs & not Baidyanath but there is a product from Baidyanath stable too named as Surakta. You can read about it on this link “http://www.baidyanath.org/21421.shtml”

Also, you don’t require Jiva’s neem syrup if you are using two others mentioned before by me. But mahamanjistharishta is a different combination & mahamanjisthadi kashayam is different according to me. I will load mahamanjishtarishta ingredients later on & then we will see what Dr Hebbar says about it.

  5. Also, forgot to mention that Baidyanath too has a different product with the name Mahamanjisthadi Kadha which is what you have mentioned in this article. If other manufacturers have manufactured Mahamanjistharishta then it must be somewhere in some other book that you probably haven’t read or can be a proprietary product as not too many manufacturers manufacture it.

  9. Hi, you can take khadidarishta and mahamanjisthadi together. But do not mix them both.
Take them separately, one after the other.
You can take Haridrakhanda with the above two, assuming you are not diabetic.
Consult a doctor directly for further advice.

  14. Hi Doctor,
I have been prescribed Mahamanjishtadi Kshayam for my skin problem by a doctor. I was also taking Padolathikaram Kashayam + Vilwadi tablet along with this. I started my treatment since 3 months. Initially I was given Padolathikaram + vilwadi alone. And was continuing it since now. 2 Weeks back only the doctor has asked me to take Mahamanjishtadi Kashayam also and asked to continue again during my next week’s consultation.

2 weeks after taking this medicine, I consulted this doctor again. And he shouted at me like anything for taking these medicines for long. He said who gave you permission to take this medicine to this long. It would bring greater side effects..etc etc.. I was wondering what went wrong..coz it was this doctor himself who asked me to continue with the medicine and never said how long. It seems he expected me to consult him every week.

Is it true that these medicines bring side effects? Or was that anger only because that doctor lost his consultation fees those days I failed to consult him?

    c) Apart from that my doctor has advised – No spice sour, salt, tomato, potato, brinjal, tamarind, chickpeas , rajma, basan , ground nut , green peas, curd, paneer, mushroom, sauces, formentated things.
Being a Vegetarian what else will I eat doctor – Pls help me out with this one
