Aragwadhadi Kashayam, also called Kwatham is a very famous Ayurvedic medicine in liquid form. It is also known as Aragwadhadi kwatham, Aragvadhadi kashayam etc.

Benefits

Aragwadhadi kashayam benefits: 
It is used in the Ayurvedic treatment of vomiting, diabetes, skin diseases with itching, ring worm infection,  allergic dermatitis, eczema  and non healing wounds, kaphaja fever, scabies and wounds.

Physicians consider this as good in vitiation of fat and in diabetes.
It is also used for the treatment of jock itch and ring worm skin infection.
Also used in treating hemorrhoids.

How long to use it?
It can be used for a period of 1 – 2 months time, based on doctor’s advice.

Effect on Tridosha:
Effective in Kapha and Pitta ailments.

Dosage

Aragvadhadi Kashayam dose: 
The dose is 12 – 24 ml, before food, at about 6 am and 6pm or as directed by Ayurvedic doctor.
It is usually advised to add equal amount of water to the kashayam.

Good for Dhara in petit wounds.
For Dhara- mix 15 ml in 300 ml of warm water and distill.
It is also available in Tablet form.

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine or as directed by the physician.

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

Side effects

Aragwadhadi kashaya Side Effects: 
There are no known side effects of this medicine.
A very high dose may cause gastritis.

Aragwadha – Cassia fistula
Indrayava – Holarrhena antidysenterica
Patali – Stereospermum suaveolens
Kakatikta – Trichosanthes tricuspidata
Nimba – Azadirachta indica
Amruta – Tinospora cordifolia
Madhusrava – Moringa oleifera / Marsdenia tenacissima
Sruvavriksha – Butea monosperma
Pata – Cyclea peltata
Bhunimba – Andrographis paniculata
Saireyaka – Strobilanthes ciliatus
Patola – Trichosanthes cucumerina
Karanja – Pongamia glabra
Pootikaranja – Holopteila integrifolia
Saptachada – Alstonia scholaris
Agni – Plumbago zeylanica
karavella – Bitter gourd – Momordica charantia
Bana – Tephrosia purpurea
Madanaphala – Randia dumetorum

It is added with 8 parts of water, boiled and reduced to quarter part, filtered.

Adjuvants

Honey or other items as directed by the physician.

Pathya

Meal should be of broken rice with boiled vegetables and buttermilk.
Chillies, tamarind and salt must be discarded.
Rock salt, ghee, bitter gourd, elephant yam, plantains, green gram, ginger and other pathya items can be taken.

Is it useful in constipation?
In this Kashaya, other than Aragwadha, there are no other strong laxative ingredients. Hence, it is not very useful in constipation.

  1. My skin of face is started producing oil highly (as a side effect of another medicine) my ayurvedic doctor gave me this. Is it useful for that?

  2. Sir, I have thyroid problem taking woo mcg everyday after consulting Ayurvedic doctor she prescribed me to take this twice a day along with shilajit tablet and vriddhivadika bari…how it is helpful to me for thyroid??

    For skin boils in leg and severe itching in legs and arms, doctor has given Aragwadhadi tablet. Could Manjishthadi kwatham or Kaisora Gulgulu or Psorakot tablet or Cheriya Madhusnuhi Rasayanam either of them OR All in combination over many months of use cause Urticaria? Thanks

  4. Hi, I took this medicine for ring worm and eczema for a period of 6 weeks , Thanks a lot , my10 months old ringworm got cured completely????. But I still have my eczema with pus filled blisters recurring. Is there any other medicine for that? It looks like discoid eczema in my thumb finger.
